About the project
The Monogorilby Renewable Energy Project comprises two development areas that are proposed to be developed together as a single wind farm and battery storage project.
The eastern area is progressing through detailed environmental and technical assessment. The western area is at an earlier investigation stage. Both are intended to host wind turbines and connect to the existing Powerlink 275kV Calvale to Halys double circuit transmission line.
The area has traditionally been used for cattle grazing and forestry. Existing primary production activities will continue alongside the wind farm, with proposed infrastructure occupying an estimated 1-3% of the total land area.

Economic Benefits
The Western Downs region is known as the “energy capital of Australia” and already hosts a number of economically critical projects that generate energy to the region and Australia-wide. The North Burnett region is also emerging as a compelling region for renewable development and economic activity.
Co-exist with Agriculture
MREP will co-exist with ongoing agricultural activities, maximising land use and existing infrastructure.
Renewable energy projects provide a diversified and reliable source of revenue for host landowners.
Local employment
MREP will create up to 300 jobs during construction and up to 12 jobs during the 30 year operational phase of the project.
Operational roles will provide stable, skilled and long-term opportunities for the next generation looking for opportunities. Apprenticeships will be available during the construction period.
Business opportunities
MREP will create extensive opportunities for local businesses and contractors during construction and operation phase.
The indirect economic boost will also extend across the broader economy and positively impact a range of services (such as fuel supply, vehicle servicing, uniform suppliers, hotels/motels, B&B’s, cafés, pubs, catering and cleaning companies, tradespersons, tool and equipment suppliers).

Development | Construction | Owner & Operator
MREP is owned by Intera Renewables, who will be the long-term owner and operator of the project. Intera Renewables was established in 2023 by Palisade Investment Partners and is owned by Palisade investment funds, Aware Super and HESTA, with over 1 GW of renewable energy assets across Australia. Intera Renewables is responsible for financing, construction, operation and decommissioning of the project.
