Community benefits

The project team is committed to developing the Monogorilby Renewable Energy Project in a way that is inclusive, open and beneficial to the local and broader community.

Renewable energy projects are long term projects that can take many years to develop and once built, operate for 30 years or more. We are committed to being a good neighbour and providing opportunities to share project benefits among the community. We are actively engaging with local landowners and stakeholders and will continue to do so as the project develops to provide timely and accurate information, and to receive and incorporate feedback.

  • Community fund

    A Community Benefit Fund ensures that the wider community benefit from the project. Local community members help tailor the fund to the best interests of the community. We welcome your ideas and feedback which will be agreed between the Project and the local Councils.

  • Work & contractor opportunities

    The project will create extensive opportunities for local businesses and contractors during the construction and operation phase.

    Examples of the types of opportunities include civil works, electrical works, site-based roles, and indirect opportunities such as catering and cleaning companies, tradespersons, tool and equipment suppliers.

Social Impact Assessment

Development phase

We will prepare a Social Impact Assessment (SIA). The SIA is a structured process that identifies, predicts and evaluates the potential social, environmental and economic impacts of a project.

The SIA helps identify how the Project might positively or negatively affect nearby communities, particularly those living close to the site. The aim is to reduce the potential negative social consequences of a project for potentially impacted communities, and to enhance potential benefits and opportunities where possible.

Community Benefit Agreement

Construction & Operation phases

The SIA will also identify opportunities for local community benefits and inform the Community Benefit Agreement (CBA) which will be agreed between the Project and the local Councils. The CBA is designed to ensure that the project benefits those communities most impacted by the wind farm development. Funding will be provided annually to initiatives identified in the SIA and through consultation with local and regional stakeholders.

Examples on how this funding may be allocated could include investments in long-term training and apprenticeship schemes, investment in local housing supply, funding for local fire services, and investment in local community infrastructure and facilities.

We welcome/encourage community input to ensure that annual community funding meets the needs of local communities living closest to the project and achieves long term positive outcomes.
